Hello, Takako, Jake, Susan and the other (略)!
P,L,U,T,O...P,L,U,T,O...P,L,U,T,O...it's got not a planet.
This is a big news, isn't it? I've got to write about it in my web page!
A famous news program in Japan reports that most of the Americans are against the idea that the Pluto is not a "planet."
What do you think about this topic?
I'm interested in your opinions, especially in those of NASA personnels.
Thank you.

Hello Hirosuke,
I admit - I have not been keeping up with current U.S. opinion on this topic.
However, I just heard a NASA scientist on our local news say that it is the right thing to do, to demote Pluto from full planet status to "dwarf planet" status.
I am not an astronomer so I can not contribute much to this discussion.
However, I think it is exciting that astronomers around the world are able to continually learn about our solar system, even if it means reshaping previous thinking.
Poor Pluto... The only concern I have is how much it will cost our educational system to update our children's school text books! :)

Hello again, Susan.
In Japan mothers are always anxious about education for their children.
So you are, Susan!
I've just know mothers in America are the same as those in Japan.
"I just heard a NASA scientist on our local news say that it is the right thing to do, to demote Pluto from full planet status to "dwarf planet" status. "
>>>That's to be expected.
Scientists always think everything theoretically.
Wait...now I remember... a mother-scientist thinks ... how?
Are you a scientist, Susan?
If "yes," what do you study?
Please say hello to Danny, your husband.
I pray the Shuttle launch on Saturday is successuful.

Hello Hirosuke,
"Mother-scientist" - that sounds so interesting!!
Although I am a mother, unfortunately, I am not a scientist (that would be my smart daughter!)
I am an engineer, working with the Space Shuttle Solid Rocket Motor project (the two big motors on each side of the shuttle.)
Before this job, I worked on Space Station Payloads, scheduling experiments onboard the ISS.
My career has been very interesting.
It sounds like you are truly a Space fan.
Have you ever thought about investigating job opportunities with JAXA (Japanese Space Agency)??
Takako, thanks for enabling us to communicate through your blog!!!
I miss you and Jake...
Love,
S.
